(she/her) Community Engagement Coordinator
Abby originally hails from Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Philosophy and soon after, moved to South Korea where she taught English for two years. She then joined the Peace Corps in 2019 and moved to Mozambique where she taught high school English, learned Portuguese and worked on various community engagement projects. In 2020,unexpectedly finding herself back in the US at the height of a pandemic, she bought and renovated a passenger van to travel in and live out of with her lab-chihuahua mix. It was during her travels out west that she first came to Moab; initially she had just planned on passing through on her way to Bluff, but she stopped by Swanny City Park, met some fellow dirtbags and virtually never left. She decided to move here full time in 2024 when she took a job working with BEACON and the Grand County School District before joining us at MVMC as our Community Engagement Coordinator. In her free time, she likes romping around the desert with her dog, slacklining over canyons, reading on her stoop, and making a mean, sometimes comical, loaf of sourdough.
