Housing and Homelessness Services

Beginning on July 1, 2019, the Moab Valley Multicultural Center (MVMC) began offering limited Housing and Homelessness Services with the assistance and guidance of the State of Utah Continuum of Care (CoC) and the local homelessness coordinating committee (LHCC). Factors that influenced MVMC’s decision to formalize these services included: 1) The rise of both chronic and situational homeless persons coming to MVMC for services, 2) The affordable and low-income housing crisis in Grand County, 3) The lack of correct data relating to the actual need for housing and homelessness assistance in Grand County at the State level.

Prior to 2019, MVMC saw an increase in clients experiencing housing crises and responded by providing quality referrals and limited resources. MVMC estimates that the homelessness situation in Grand County is grossly underestimated. After hiring a Housing Resource Coordinator and receiving targeted grant funds for homelessness in 2019, MVMC became an Access Point and leader within the LHCC. MVMC’s advocates work closely with other housing and homelessness providers to meet the needs of a community with very few housing options.  Key partnerships MVMC has formed include first responders, housing authorities, mental health professionals, domestic violence providers, law enforcement, and addiction recovery advocates.Untitled design
