Local groups to participate in fundraising events March 30

(Moab Times Independent)- On Thursday, March 30, Moab residents will have the opportunity to again prove their record-breaking generosity by contributing to their favorite nonprofit organizations and schools during the annual Love Utah Give Utah event. This year, the Moab Valley Multicultural Center, the Moab Free Health Clinic, the Moab Music Festival, WabiSabi and Grand Area Mentoring will be participating in the day-long fundraiser.

Love Utah Give Utah is a crowd-funding event, and each year, local nonprofits register with the Community Foundation of Utah to participate. This year, the Moab Valley Multicultural Center (MVMC) is asking its supporters to donate just $10 and “to please tell a friend.” Along with hosting the event, the Community Foundation of Utah offers extra monetary prizes to the top three participating nonprofits based on which group has the most individual donors as categorized by unique email addresses and credit card information.

For those who do not wish to make a donation online, the MVMC has arranged a variety of ways to give throughout the day. On Thursday, March 30, Eklecticafe will donate 10 percent of its breakfast proceeds (from 7 to 11 a.m.) to the Moab Valley Multicultural Center. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the center, located at 156 North 100 West, will host a tamale lunch. The cost will be $10 for a plate of two tamales, rice and beans.

Later that evening, all local participating nonprofit groups will hold an evening soirée on the back patio of the Multicultural Center. The event, which will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. will feature live music, free appetizers, a raffle and a champagne toast. Donation stations will be set up to easily allow area residents to support their favorite local nonprofits.
